An ongoing online campaign designed to raise awareness about environmental protection in Cyprus.
The campaign operates throughout the year, conducting workshops and public presentations across various locations within Cyprus. The campaign is organized around four key subjects: Protect our Forests, Protect our Oceans, Reusing our Waste, Protect our Biodiversity.

Objectives
The campaign’s primary goal is to address global environmental challenges and contribute to their resolution. This is achieved through the creation and promotion of a high-quality information and awareness campaign. The campaign employs visual communication materials to heighten public consciousness regarding environmental protection for a sustainable future. It actively involves the public, encourages local community engagement, and cultivates a culture of collaboration and personal social responsibility. This extends beyond the adoption of effective environmental protection practices, encompassing their dissemination as well.
Target Audience
The Save & Share campaign is aimed at the broader Cypriot public and seeks to attract individuals with a specific interest in environmental issues and the planet’s protection.
Save & Share at Youth Board Cyprus

On Thursday, October 26, the Youth Board of Cyprus as the National Management Service of the European Solidarity Corps, celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Program, at the Atlantica Miramare Beach Hotel, in Limassol.
Aggeliki Athanasiadi and Miltos Karras as representatives of the NGO Graphic Stories and Maria Demetriadou as a representative of the Save & Share team, had the pleasure to share with the attendees the idea of the Save & Share campaign. They distributed Save & Share postcards, spoke about Graphic Stories’ actions and publications, discussed visual communication, met friends and loved ones and got to know other organizations.
Many congratulations to ONEK and the people behind the important and meaningful work they offer to young people.

The power of social design for a sustainable future
The Save & Share team, after the honorary invitation of the Principal of Archangelos Lakatamia High School Ms. Chrystalenis Papastilianou, presented to students and teachers of the school its overall action, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
This presentation was supported by Director Ms. Eleni Christodoulidou and the physics professor Mr. Miltos Karras. The event was prefaced by Mr. Theodoulos Makrygiannis, Senior Program Development and Management Officer of the Office of the Environment Commissioner. Addressing the students and teachers of the school, Mr. Makrygiannis emphasized the importance of individual responsibility for the protection of the environment, the dangers of climate change and how it affects people, both locally and globally. In closing, he expressed the strong will of the state to undertake and support initiatives related to the protection of the environment.
The Save & Share team continues the communication, information and dissemination of the campaign online and hopes for the support of competent bodies in order to further develop and continue the project with additional topics included in the plan. The team was inspired by the words of the founder of social design, Victor Papanek, “Design is a powerful tool that shapes the environment and society, and designers have a responsibility to cause change through good design.”

On Monday, October 2, a presentation of the actions of Save & Share was held on the TV show “First Update”, with Stavros Kyprianou. The guest of the show is Maria Demetriadou, member of the Save & Share group.
Save & Share is a group of young people who, in collaboration with the NGO Graphic Stories Cyprus, are active in the field of social planning. Through the campaign of four posters they touch four pillars of awareness on natural environment issues. The promotional material was created in the framework of the Save & Share campaign of the European Solidarity Corps program and aims to convey messages through the correct and strategic planning for the protection of the environment.
More specifically, Save & Share is the title of the electronic information and awareness campaign for environmental protection with the theme “The power of social planning for a sustainable future”, which can be used by the local community (other organizations, schools , agencies, public) for its spread and the development of social responsibility towards the environment.
The aim of this campaign is to offer and contribute to the solution of the problems faced by the planet, in relation to the environment and its protection. This is done through the creation and promotion of the professional level information and awareness campaign presented in the following pages.
The campaign consists of visual communication material to raise public awareness in relation to environmental protection, for a sustainable future with their active participation. The ultimate goal is to encourage the active participation of the people of the local community and to develop a culture of cooperation and personal social responsibility not only for implementing good environmental protection practices but also for contributing to their dissemination.
The four thematic pillars presented in the campaign are:
1. Protection of our Forests
2. Protection of our Oceans
3. Reusing our Waste
4. Protecting our Biodiversity – Endangered Animals

On Tuesday, October 03, a presentation of Save & Share’s actions took place on the radio show “Glimpses of Current Affairs”, with Marios Konstantinou. The show is hosted on the radio station of Cyprus University at UCy Voice 95.2fm. The guests of the show were Maria Demetriadou and Katerina Charalampous, members of the Save & Share group.

The Wild Beauty of Cyprus

On Sunday, September 10, the Save & Share team in collaboration with the scientific partner George Papapetrou (Naturalist) held the interactive workshop for young people, on the theme “The Wild Beauty of Cyprus”.
The workshop included a screening of a short documentary and information about the biodiversity of Cyprus – as it is in line with the fourth pillar of the Save & Share campaign – with the theme “Protection of our Biodiversity – Endangered Animals”.
The workshop was about informing the public about the biodiversity of Cyprus and why it is so important to preserve it, mainly due to Cyprus’ geographical location. We learned that every year about 250,000,000 migratory birds pass through Cyprus, that an eagle species which is only local to Cyprus and for the endangered Cypriot wild sheep, a species of sheep that does not exist in any other country.

Reuse, Repair, Recreate

The #SaveAndShare team in collaboration with Arcadia and Fashion Revolution Cyprus invited the audiences in a two-hour workshop on the topic of “Reuse, Repair, Recreate”.
The workshop included clothing processing techniques, designed for all ages and the participants were invited to bring with them a garment (a t-shirt or an item of clothing) that they no longer use or wear, so they could have the opportunity to transform it with our help and guidance.

12th Ecological Festival of Lakatamia

The #SaveAndShare team participated in the 12th Ecological Festival of the Municipality of Lakatamia, on Sunday 21 May. The booth of the group was visited by the Commissioner for the Environment, Mrs. Maria Panagiotou.
Many parents and children played the board game “Think Deep” designed exclusively for the needs of the Save and Share project and at the same time painted our wonderful seabed.

“Think Deep”
The Save & Share team in collaboration with the Paralimni Youth – Paralimni Youth held an interactive workshop for young people, on the topic “Think Deep”.
The workshop included interactive activities in the form of games, facts and statistics about the oceans and their pollution. This was followed by an update on the perspective of the Save & Share project. As in the first workshop, the second prize was given to our winner, George Joseph, which was a lovely blue-coloured recycled glass jar, as the workshop was about the second poster of the campaign entitled “Protect Our Oceans”.

“Consciousness Revival”
On February 9th, the first interactive workshop for young people was held by our team members at the University of Cyprus in collaboration with the Environmental and Animal Welfare Club of the University.
The topic of the workshop was about forest protection. On the same day, the first poster we designed for Save & Share’s online information campaign “Protect Our Forests” was presented.
