Visual Communication Designer / Author / Columnist / Founder & Creative Director of the Conference on Visual Communication, “Graphic Stories”

Aggeliki Athanasiadi has been working as a visual communication designer since 1999 under the name “makad.cy”. She holds a Master’s degree with Distinction in Arts & Design [MA] specializing in Branding, from Middlesex University of London.

Having acquired a strong background in print and digital communication and advertising she worked with advertising agencies, as a freelancer, as well as with big printing houses in Athens. She has worked as an Assistant Art Director at the Attica Publishing Group for PC Magazine. She has also worked with pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis, Pharmanel, Menarini, UCB.

She believes in the effectiveness of teamwork and personal and professional development through continuing education. She has completed a three-year educational program in Interior Design, as well as an annual training program in Business Administration in Cyprus. She is certified as an “Adult Vocational Trainer” by the HRDA [Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus]. She is a founding member of the Visual Communication Designers Club, VCDC and a member of the C-IDEA International Trainers Association. From July 2014 until 2019 she maintained the permanent column “Graphic Stories” in the cultural inlet of the Cypriot newspaper “Politis”.

She likes to share her passion and knowledge for design and is always willing to offer to the graphic design community. In 2016 and 2017 she organized the “Behance Portfolio Reviews” in Cyprus. She is a member of the board of the Cyprus Creative Club, the local representative of the Art Directors Club of Europe [ADC*E]  and was a jury member of the ADC*E in 2020.

Aggeliki is the founder and Creative Director of Graphic Stories Cyprus, the Annual Conference on Graphic Design and Visual Communication in Cyprus, aiming at the transmission of knowledge and specialized technical training, as well as exploring the modern trends in graphic design and also the co-organizer of the Design Forum “10 min design talk”. In 2019 she has published the “Graphic Stories” album – book, which is her first authoring work.

She has participated in art and graphic design exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, Russia, UAE, China, Korea, Indonesia, Ecuador, Serbia, Mexico & Spain with more than 100 personal artworks. She has been awarded in the Cypriot Design & Advertising Awards “Pygmalion” with Gold and Silver distinction.
